![]() ![]() ![]() Cant recommend these guys enough, Thanks Clew bay bike team, you made the weekend for us! We will be back again :) We met a few people along the route going in both directions and stopped for a drink in both Mulranny (where Clew bay bikes had a staff member meet us at another depot in the old railway station) and finally in newport, in Grainne Uaile pub, where we had some fantastic pub food to finish the afternoon off. the views both north and south were spectacular and wild, just what you'd expect in this part of the country. Even though the weather closed on once or twice, we all had rain jackets, hats and gloves and the ride itself was very pleasant. Clew bay bikes arranged to meet us in Newport, at the Grainne Uaile pub, at the end of our journey and ferried us the 1 hour drive back to Achill there were 7 of us, all of different physical fitness levels, but the route was very manageable. The route we chose was along the greenway from Achill sound, through Mulranny to Newport town, but if you have enough time, you could continue all the way to westport. The bikes were in very good condition, we had one technical breakdown about 4km into the cycle, but Clew bay bikes were excellent in getting a replacement bike out to us in their van, no hassle at all and we only lost about 10 minutes on our cycle. Staff were very friendly and ensured we all took hi viz vests, helmets and bikes which were all sized correctly. The team at Clew bay bikes were very accommodating even though we made a late booking, they met us at their depot at half ten on a saturday morning, in the back of the carpark at "Óstán Oileán Acla" (Achill Island Hotel) which is right on edge of the mainland side of the bridge. ![]() We spent the weekend in Achill, the weather was mostly cloudy and some rain, but we decided to hire the bikes and attempt the greenway. ![]()
